Custom Order: Book/Magazine Stands

These book stands were created as display units for trade shows.

Each book stand is made up of two pieces: a base and a back. In this set, the bases are made out of mahogany and the backs are made out of maple.

The bases are about 3-1/4 inches wides and 7 inches long.

The bases are about 1-1/4 inches thick and contain two grooves. The forward groove (on the left) is about 1-1/2 inches wide at the base. The bottom of this groove is smooth. The rear groove is about 1/4 inch thick and holds the back of the stand.

The backs are made out of 1/4-inch-thick maple and are about 6-1/2 by 9-/12 inches in size. This picture shows three backs with rounded corners, which can be deployed horizontally or vertically. One back is a bit more of a "T" shape; I didn't like it as much (and it was more complicated to make). All pieces have been sanded, polished, waxed, and buffed.

This picture shows the book stands supporting two thin magazines. Note that the wide back does a good job of supporting even the upper corners of the floppy catalog on the left.
